Deaf Centered Interpreting

This session critically examines traditional interpreting practices that may unintentionally disengage or disempower deaf individuals. Participants will identify common practices that limit engagement and autonomy, explore how these approaches impact both deaf consumers and interpreters, and define desired outcomes for more effective interpreting experiences.  Using DEAM (Deaf Dream Team) approaches, the session will focus on strategies that promote empowerment, collaboration, and improved outcomes for all members of the interpreting dynamic.
