Empowerment Through Advocacy
At Knoxville Center of the Deaf, advocacy is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to removing barriers and promoting equal access for individuals who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing across all areas of life—including healthcare, education, employment, and community participation.

Our advocacy efforts aim to empower individuals through direct support, education, and system-level change. Whether working with state agencies, service providers, or community partners, we ensure that the voices and needs of our community are heard and respected.
Below are two of our core advocacy programs that provide ongoing, person-centered support:
Case Management Services
DeafBlind Support Program
Case Management Services
KCD's case management services provide personalized support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, helping them access vital resources such as healthcare, education, and social services. Our team works one-on-one with clients to ensure they overcome communication barriers and achieve their goals.
Deaf/Blind Program
KCD prides itself on providing personalized support and communication access for individuals who are DeafBlind, ensuring they have equal opportunities to engage, connect, and thrive.
Support Service Providers (SSPs)
At KCD, we are proud to offer Support Service Provider (SSP) services designed to empower individuals who are DeafBlind with greater independence, confidence, and connection—not dependency.
Our trained SSPs work alongside clients to facilitate access to everyday tasks such as transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping, reading mail or bills, navigating paperwork, and—when needed—making payments. Each service is flexible and tailored to the unique needs and preferences of the individual.
All of our SSPs complete rigorous, specialized training to ensure respectful, effective, and person-centered support.
We are committed to accessibility, dignity, and empowerment in every interaction.
Whether you're seeking SSP services or are interested in becoming an SSP, we’d love to connect with you.
