Programs and Services
Sign Language Interpreting
Our main function here at KCD is to provide high quality professional interpreting services for the Deaf, Deaf-Blind, and Hard-of-Hearing communities. The financial resources generated by our hard-working interpreting staff allows us to operate our facility and to provide the below listed programs and services. Please contact us for more information about our interpreting services.
Sign Language Classes
KCD strives to offer Sign Language classes every Fall and Spring semester. Click here for more information about upcoming opportunities to learn conversational ASL!
Interpreter Internships
KCD offers Interpreter Internships for students majoring in Sign Language Interpreting. Internships, often required by formal Interpreter Training Programs (ITPs), offer students the opportunity for skill building, mentoring, training, and real world experience. For more information, contact us at interpreter@kcdtn.org.
Interpreter Training Workshops
Here at KCD, the professional development of our staff and contract interpreters is vital. We offer and host training workshops to help all interpreters continue to improve and develop their interpreting and professional skills, as well as earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to maintain their National Interpreter Certification (NIC).
Please see our Announcements and Events Calendar for any upcoming Interpreter Training Workshops.

SSP Program
KCD supports the local Deaf-Blind community by offering our SSP Program. An SSP is a “Support Service Person” who takes his/her time to help Deaf-Blind community members with transportation to and from medical appointments, the grocery store, the pharmacy, the bank, or wherever community members need to go to shop or conduct their business.
Stop for a minute and think about what it must be like to be deaf and blind. Yes, they are isolated! Without the wonderful SSP’s to pick them up and take them to where they need to go, Deaf-Blind people have difficulty getting out in the community.
