Julie A. Rice

A native of Knoxville, Julie was raised in Cookeville, Tennessee, graduated with a B.A. in English from Tenn. Tech Univ. and received her J.D. degree from the Univ. of Tenn. College of Law. After practicing with the Blount County Public Defenders Office for a time, she opened her private practice in Knoxville in 1993. Retiring from her law practice to focus her energies on her two youngest children, Julie manages to keep health and home reasonably together while managing two soccer teams, helping care for her parents, being involved with her church, and occasionally doing the odd bit of legal work from time to time. When Julie gets free time, she enjoys painting, cooking, reading, and working in the yard. She is very grateful to special friends Phil and Lynn Beam for introducing her to the wonderful world of sign language, for always encouraging her, and for laughing while correcting her goofs. Julie is serving her first term on the Board and hopes to continue serving the deaf community for many years to come.
